Rethinking Neurodviergence For Clinicians/Educators
It doesn't matter how skilled we are — the framework limits what we can see.
Is This You?
You believe the world is neurodiverse and not neuro-singular and you believe systems should reflect that. And you want to be part of that movement.
If this is you, you are in the right place.
I. Start Here ( foundation)
Can a fish be expected to climb a tree?
This is a short, interactive primer in the inside-out framework — a clinical lens that reframes ADHD, autism, and AuDHD from the inside-out (how they view the world, themselves, and how their nervous system works).
II. Next, Journey Into The AU+DHD Mind
Select a Simulation
These simulations translate the AuDHD, ADHD and autistic experience into something you can feel, hear, and appreciate.
The Mental Tabs Simulation
Imagine this...you have 37 mental tabs open. Three are playing audio. One is counting ceiling tiles.
This is how many ADHDers experience their headspace every waking moment.
The Mixing Board Simulation
Not all brains filter the world the same way.
Adjust the sliders—lights, textures, overlapping conversations—and hear what “too loud” really means.
The Firehydrant Simulation
Same situation. Different nervous systems. A tiny comment can become a tidal wave. See how two neurotypes can start in the same situation… and end up in entirely different emotional realities.
The AU+DHD Emotional Flooding
III. Then Explore These

III. Get Involved
Want to get notified of tools to support your work with your clients? Join our notification squad and get notified of new tools
A membership program for clinicians who want to build a practice that actually fits how neurodivergent brains work.
Read our neuro-affirming language guide aimed at reframing deficit-based language
Join The AU+DHD Notification Squad
We are building exciting tools to support you. Such as the AU+DHD toolbox, containing worksheets, visual aids, and session-ready resources built around how neurodivergent brains actually work. Join our notification squad and get notified when the toolkit becomes available.
AU+DHD Clinician Circle
A membership program for clinicians who want to go deeper — exploring the inside-out framework together, brainstorming how to adjust treatment approaches, and building a practice that actually fits how neurodivergent brains work.
III. Take Action
Sessions become more effective when we realize it's not the fish that's broken — it's the environment.
Take a moment with the visuals below. What do you understand?
The Cost
When we ask the fish to climb trees — to meet neurotypical standards — the result is burnout. This is what the wrong framework does to a neurodivergent nervous system.

Ability is contextual
Change the environment, change the outcome. The fish was never broken, it was just in the wrong water. Our job as educators and clinicians is to help shift our client's understanding of self to reduce shame and to help them find the right "water".

Ready to make the transition to an inside-out framework? Below are some tools that will help you make that shift.
